The Kiss

A character test render

Tuesday 25 August 2009

Dimension Ship

I found this old render based on Lazarus' Inter Dimension ship from the Star Trek episode "The Alternative Factor". It's very rough and basic from a period when I was trying to learn some basic modeling. I'd like very much to have another go at it at some point.

Nu Raider

As is the trend these days, this is the re-imagined Raider from BSG, this is Black Sun Models small 1:72 scale edition.

Cylon Raider

One of my favorite model releases. This is the Revell Cylon Raider.

An Escape Pod

I wanted very much to have a go at an Escape Pod sequence like the one seen in the first Star Wars movie. I built a basic pod model based on the look and design of the ILM model, but it is not in any way a precise or exact match. It was a fun little project.

Daedalus Class

A Star Trek TOS era Daedalus Class vessel, based on a design by Matt Jefferies and a physical model by Greg Jein.

A Nova

Although subtitled as a supernova, it's really just more of a nova, these renders were inspired by the destruction of the red sun of Krypton from Superman: The movie.

Palaeozoic Earthrise

A respectful twist to the incredible Earthrise images of the Apollo missions. How the Earthrise might have appeared during the time of Pangaea.

Pangaea

An impression of Pangaea...with that old artistic license :p

Her Enchanted

Thopter & Buttle

Méliès Moon

This was a clay sculpt based on the production art from Georges Méliès 1902 film "Le Voyage Dans La Lune"

Jupiter

Some more planetary art. This time Jupiter, made from a texture map.

Mine Cart Renders

Here's a few shots of the model in action.

Mine Cart

One of my favorite model sequences is the Mine Cart chase from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Thanks to the recent release of merchandising from the latest Indiana Jones film, I was lucky enough to find the Hasbro figures of Indy, Shorty and Willie and attempted to build and emulate a little mine car set for them.
It was a fun little project to try and I very much enjoyed the opportunity at making the cart, barrels and terrain along with the tracks. The only non orthodox inclusion was the lamp light, technically it should be an oil lamp but I lack the skill to model one at the moment. I think this light comes from a Dolls House manufacturer.
